A Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan is required under Title 8 of the California Code of Regulations  §5193 and 29 C.F.R.  §1910.1030. Eliminating occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials is the purpose of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.

If a BBPEC Plan is required, usually a first aid/CPR provider assumes the task of being the BBPEC Plan Administrator, since this person has most at stake in making sure that all precautions are in place.
